Naar het Europees Sociaal Forum!
Het Actieplatform gezondheid en solidariteit nam deel aan de vijfde editie van het Europees Sociaal Forum in Malmö (Zweden) van 17 tem 21 september.
De werkgroep commercialisering en privatisering van de gezondheidszorg heeft Zweedse partners gezocht en gevonden in het Swedish network for Common Welfare. Samen organiseerden ze het seminarie "Market oriented health care reforms" op vrijdag 19 september.
De uitdagingen zijn dan ook groot. Elk Europees land wordt in min of meerdere mate geconfronteerd met de commercialisering van de gezondheidszorg. Het seminarie vertrekt vanuit een aantal vragen: Wat zijn de gevolgen van deze vermarkting in de gezondheidszorg? Welke impact heeft het op de toegankelijkheid van de gezondheidszorg? Hoe wordt het personeel in de zorgsector getroffen door deze vermarkting?
Er waren bijdragen vanuit verschillende Europese landen zoals Denemarken, VK, België en Zweden. Het voorstel om een Europees netwerk rond vermarkting van de gezondheidszorg op te starten, werd met veel enthousiasme onthaald. Onderstaande oproep werd na het seminarie verspreid:

Creating
a European Network
In different European countries there seems to be a tendency of cooperation between Trade Unions and other social organizations on the issues of marketisation of health- and social services on the European and national levels. The moment can now be ideal to create a European Network.
The network is based on the idea of a healthcare and social service model based on solidarity, accessability, affordability and quality. Marketisation and liberalization of these services undermines these values. Healthcare and social service must be strengthened to respond to he needs of society and clearly protected form marketisation and commercialization on the different levels (EU, national, regional and local authorities).
Working together is a key factor in succeeding to achieve end/or maintaing this social model. The network must bring together Trade Unions, NGO’s, organizations of patients and users. Concrete actions, campaigning, lobbying, information are the methods of the network. In a first phase the network could work

organizing a campaign in every EU country to the parties and candidates running for the EP elections of 2009 about 3 general questions
